One of the most colorful festivities welcome spring in Madeira
In Madeira, springtime is honored like a queen, being crowned with the Flower Festival, held every year after Easter. Due to the subtropical climate of Madeira, the Flower Festival is a truly sumptuous spectacle. There will be many activities related to the festival, from traditional floral carpets, markets, exhibitions and workshops, to the depositing of flowers by the children at the “Wall of Hope” and the highlight event, the grand Flower Parade.
This year, celebrating the 600th anniversary of the discovery of the islands, the Flower Festival takes place under the theme “Madeira - 600 years in blossom”. Madeiran artists devote their time to building unforgettable floral carpets, strategically exhibited in the streets at different points, whilst competitions are also organized to find the best decorated shop windows.
