The most prestigious beer festival in the Czech Republic receives special support from the mayor of České Budějovice
Czechia is famous for its great beers and Czech Budejovice – for its great beer festival. The International Beer Festival is turning 30 this month and is more than welcoming to visitors, willing to attend it, albeit for the first time. If you're eager to discover Czech beer through degustation and see which brands will be awarded most prestigious awards, make sure to be at the event.
The beer festival in České Budějovice is claimed to be the most prestigious in the country. The city has been contributing financially to the organisation for the fourth year. The jubilee 30th International Festival will begin at the Exhibition Grounds on 17 February with expert tastings and will end on Saturday 20 February with the award ceremony. 264 breweries from all over the world will apply for the Golden Beer Seal.
The international beer festival is among the important events supported by the city council of Czech Budejovice. “Beer belongs to our town and of course we welcome the festival. It is a good winter opportunity to diversify life in the city outside the tourist season… Czechs are beer lovers, so I expect in a lot of participation and I wish to gain new knowledge in this area. Whoever has done something in the brewing industry will be in February in Budějovice,” said Mayor Jiří Svoboda in a press conference, quoted by the municipal portal.
The professional tasting event will be attended by experts in the areas of brewing, food and quality certification. The medalists in the individual categories will be given a chance to compete for the WORLD BEER SEAL AWARD held under the supervision of professional international certification authorities.
Alois Srb, the director of the festival, believes that the increase in the number of breweries applying for the competition every year is proof of the quality of the festival.
