There are eleven Christmas markets in the city
Dresden has the oldest Christmas market in Germany and it is also the home of the famous Dresden Christmas stollen, which young and old citizens and visitors enjoy.
Annualy, since 2009 the campaign under the banner headline ‘Dresden makes winter sparkle’ is held. The magical event offers all the Christmas and winter attractions as a single package, taking the Striezelmarkt as primary attraction. The main goal of the markets is to attract more day and overnight visitors to the city on the Elbe. The main target groups are tourists, tour operators and travel journalists.
There are eleven totally different Christmas markets. The biggest advantage of the Christmas markets of Dresden is its versatility. There is something to suit every taste – historical, medieval or even the popular après-ski hut. There is also an interactive map of all Christmas markets as well as information and images of the winter attractions.
