Dubrovnik launches first ever digital nomad-in-residence competition

Remote workers can now apply and get the chance to win a four-week-stay in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik

Recently, digital nomads have become more and more popular as countries all around the world are opening their doors to remote workers. Now, Croatia’s Dubrovnik has launched the first ever digital nomad-in-residence (DN-I-R) competition. Out of all the contest’s applicants, 10 people will be chosen and given the chance to spend four weeks living in and working from Dubrovnik.

What do the winners receive?

The DN-I-R program offers far more than a chance to visit the beautiful city. That is, it is also an opportunity for digital nomads to enhance their existing skills and develop new ones. Taking this further, the 10 winners will be offered professional development training and workshops on design-thinking.

Subsequently, they will be asked to present their findings on how Dubrovnik can become a city that is “Digital Nomad Friendly”. Thus, the city will use the skills of the DN-I-Rs to improve its brand and attract more remote workers. In addition to this, it will gain a better understanding of what their needs are and how it can best cater to them.

Who is eligible?

According to the website of Saltwater Nomads, Croatia’s local remote work specialists, you must meet the following criteria to apply for and win the DN-I-R competition:

  1. You are a digital nomad or able to work remotely 23 April – 23 May 2021.
  2. You are active on a minimum of 3 major social networks.
  3. You are a freelancer/entrepreneur/employee with a 5-year work/study history.
  4. You have personal and professional skills which will add value to the program.
  5. You must be able to dedicate 1 day a week to Friday workshops, 2 weekend getaways and 6 group meals.
  6. You must submit a 1-minute video and respond to 5 questions.
  7. You must agree to the Terms and Conditions of the program.
