Frankfurt’s compact 'cube' housing - the student home of the future

Frankfurt’s compact 'cube' housing - the student home of the future

Modern homes in a space saving and innovative way

An innovative student project in Frankfurt will change housing completely by cutting down space, energy consumption and rent costs.

Darmstadt Technical University's eco project “Cubit” presented its new student accommodation. It costs €250 a month to rent and produces more energy than it uses.

In “Cubit” rooms, everything possible is designed to save space. For example, drawers and wardrobes are hidden in the beds and the desk slides back into the wall. One of the main advantages of the project is that it is the first student home worldwide which conforms to the "plus-energy standard".
