The Greek municipality wants to thank the "heroes of everyday life"
On Saturday 16 April, the Greek City of Trikala unveiled its new fleet of garbage trucks. Unlike typical trucks, however, the new vehicles will feature photographs of the city’s cleaners with the aim of underlining the work they do and thanking them for their efforts.
It follows then that the trucks will serve as a reminder of the “heroes of everyday life”. Under the main photograph, a message further urges the city’s residents to refrain from littering and to help the said heroes keep Trikala clean.
“We bring to the spotlight the unsung heroes of cleanliness and greenery, the heroes of everyday life […] A municipality will never be clean if its citizens do not help,” Mayor of Trikala Dimitris Papastergiou wrote on Facebook.
