Get ready for the Brussels Art Nouveau and Art Deco Festival

Get ready for the Brussels Art Nouveau and Art Deco Festival

For the three consecutive weekends in March, privileged insight into private houses, chef-d-oeuvre of the two architectural styles will be offered to visitors

The Brussels Art Nouveau & Art Deco Festival returns for its fifth edition in March 2019. Over three consecutive weekends, the capital of Belgium will be showcasing the interiors of private houses, which exemplify the two architectural styles particularly popular between 1893 and 1939. Explore Brussels organizes guided tours, walking tours, concerts and other side events which aim to showcase the treasury of the period, integral part of the cultural heritage of the country and the Old continent. Professional guides will take you through several privately-owned homes, loved and cherished by their owners.

What to expect?

For the first weekend, 16-17th March, visitors will see thirteen houses, hotels and villas, among which Hotel Hannon Herenhuis, Hotel Max Hallet Herenhuis and House Boelens Huis and have the possibility to attend conferences and discussions.

The second weekend, 23-24th March, offers a glimpse into fifteen places from the inside, as well as twelve other activities for different ages, like talks on the history of Art Nouveau in Hungary, interactive kids-friendly workshops and expositions. Eldorado Cinema, Hotel Solvay Herenhuis can be visited on these two days.

Finally, the weekend of 30-31st March is dedicated to sixteen sites, including Maison Cauchie Huis, the Communal school and the historical lifts at Paul Deschanel street.

Do not forget to book your visit well in advance, as it promises to be a fine and relished experience.

The Art Nouveau and Art Deco heritage of Brussels has been recognized by UNESCO: Victor Horta’s major townhouses (included in 2000), Hotel Solvay, Hotel Tassel, his house and atelier, Hotel Eetverlde), as well as the Stoclet House are all part of the List.
