Žilina to launch mobile coffee shops for the summer

Žilina to launch mobile coffee shops for the summer

The municipality believes that such an initiative will be widely appreciated by both citizens and visitors of the city

Instead of tourists and citizens cluttering and filling up coffee shops and restaurants in the city, the city council of Žilina wants to promote a more outdoor approach. The plan proposed by the local government involves the creation of five special sites where mobile platforms will provide visitors and clients with the appropriate summertime refreshments – lemonade, espresso, iced coffee, etc. The locations where they will be placed are planned for the city centre – namely at Mariánské námestie, Andrej Hlinka Square, Ľudovít Štúr Park, Bulvári and Na bráne Street. Parties interested in running these mobile stands are currently in the process of filling out the appropriate paperwork and applications so that they can start operating by the end of June.

The City council is very open to the possibility of expanding the service if it garners sufficient interest. According to the mayor of Žilina, Peter Fiabáne, the municipal offices will be offering information to every interested party – both to people looking for the specific locations and to businesses who might want to participate in the future.  “We are fine-tuning the latest steps, which in turn will make it possible to put this type of sale into practice. I believe that Zilina, as well as visitors to our town, will welcome these news”, said Peter Fiabáne.
