Jachymov Spa - the first radon-spa house in the world

Jachymov Spa - the first radon-spa house in the world

One of the three most famous Czech Republic’s spa resorts, in only about 2 hours from Prague

Located in northwestern Bohemia in the Czech Republic, Jachymov is the world’s oldest radon spa, founded in 1906. The hills surrounding Jachymov are full of uranium. Around 20 000 patients visit it every year. Visitors come seeking relief from the symptoms of a range of afflictions, from neurological disorders to arthritis and gout. Bathing is rigorously timed, and every person is exposed to 3.5 millisieverts of radiation during their three-week treatment.

There are two clinical benefits to radon water. First, it has an anti-inflammatory effect. The second clinical benefit is having a direct algetic effect, it can work like a painkiller with a similar effect to morphine, but one that can last a far longer time.
