Kiel presents “Kiel Family App” 2.0

Kiel presents “Kiel Family App” 2.0

The application has been around since 2016 but just recently received a complete makeover

The “Kiel Family App” is an innovative project for parents, expecting parents and their children to seek out the resources they might need in a convenient and easy to access manner.

The application has been up and running since 2016 but has just recently undergone a complete and total makeover. Developed jointly by local authorities of the German city and experts from the Kiel University of Applied Sciences, the “Kiel Family App” is aimed at providing some much-needed assistance to those with children aged between 0 and 12.

Taking the needs of citizens to heart

Mayor of Kiel Renate Treutel was eager to present the changes to the “Kiel Family App”, claiming that the 2.0 redesign was almost entirely guided by citizen expectations - "The users of this app know best which areas can still be optimized. For example, there was an urgent desire to expand the age group of the children". Authorities took these proposals to heart and for example, increased the age range to include up to 12-year-olds. Furthermore, a brand new feature is the complete and functional translation of the app into Turkish, so as to accommodate young families of Turkish origin.

The “Kiel Family App” offers a vast array of information, including deals for all manner of things related to children, offers for consultations on a wide range of subjects, general tips and practical solutions to common problems, ideas for where to spend some time with your kids and many others.

The “relaunch” of the “Kiel Family App” in its 2nd iteration is seen as the perfect opportunity for a large-scale marketing push by local authorities. Over 10,000 people have used the app over the course of 2019 and have expressed their satisfaction with the service, but the local government wants to see it grow and expand further and further.
