L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped: discover the installation as it happens

The emblematic monument is being wrapped as a tribute to the late artist Christo

Only a few days are left before the official opening of the long-awaited artistic installation “L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped” in Paris. From 18 September until 3 October, the emblematic monument will be wrapped in recyclable fabric, as part of an artistic project in memory of the late Christo Javacheff, a contemporary artist of Bulgarian descent, who had lived in the French capital.

Naturally, the progress of the installation has been rapidly advancing and for the lucky few who live or happen to pass by Paris these days, the sight is there to behold. However, the installation can also be viewed by anyone on Earth with an internet-connected device for free. So, here we will show you where to see L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped if you are not in Paris right now.

The wrapping of Arc de Triumphe in Paris began in early September and made headlines in the international press. Fascinating pictures from professional photographers flooded the internet last week, while ordinary visitors to Paris shared the first sights of the unusual condition of the central roundabout.

Fortunately, the organisers of the free showcase, conscious of the interest that it will provoke worldwide, have come up with multiple ways to make it accessible to the online culture community.

For one, on the official website of the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Foundation, one can follow, at their own pace, the progress of the wrapping of the monument, and observe the key changes that it has undergone – in pictures and with a time-lapse.

Then, one can discover the live view of the Monument, as it stands a silent and noble witness to the fast-paced life of the French capital.
