Limina's theatre will open on Bristol's Harbourside

The opening programme will present a selection of the world’s best artistic, natural history, documentary and culture experiences

UK's first fully dedicated virtual reality arts theatre will open in Bristol on April 12 with public previews from April 4. Limina: The Virtual Reality Theatre will be located next door to the multi-arts venue on Bristol's Harbourside. Limina’s goal is to make immersive media more accessible by diversifying audiences and widening participation in the emerging sector. Founders say that the facility will enable people to “step on stage with Cirque du Soleil’s performers and trip on mind-bending visuals”

Limina’s VR shows will run 6 nights per week, Wednesday to Monday and all day and evening at weekends. The VR theatre experience will be suitable for ages from 13 and above.

Limina’s initial programme will include the opportunity to:

  • Meet threatened Kenyan elephants up close with Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o
  • Step on stage with Cirque du Soleil’s performers to get the best seat in the house
  • Trip on mind-bending visuals while you nod along to beats from N’to and DJ Hoffman
  • Submerge yourself under the ocean’s surface with free-diving yogi Sara Campbell
  • Join Senegalese fashion designer Selly Raby Kane on a surreal Alice in Wonderland-style journey through Dakar
  • See one of the earth’s most endangered and beautiful coral reefs, first hand
