Long distance train service resumed in Germany

Long distance train service resumed in Germany

The service was cancelled on Thursday due to bad weather conditions

All long distance trains were cancelled on Thursday due to hurricane "Friederike". The service resumed today but there are still some restrictions for safety reasons. Some routes in Lower Saxony will remain closed for a while longer. Passengers can check trains status online. In the southern part of Germany trains operate according to their normal schedules.

The North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany was hit by severe winds and storms which caused heavy damage on train routes and called for hundreds of staff to remove branches and trees from the rails.
