Digital technologies create new opportunities for businesses and other organisations. They allow them to develop new products, reach more customers, improve efficiency and competitiveness. 90% of jobs today require at least basic digital skills and there are over 350,000 open vacancies for ICT specialists in the EU.To help improve students' advanced digital skills and their career prospects as well as to provide companies with digitally competent job candidates, the Commission has launched the Digital Opportunity Traineeships initiative.
Digital Opportunity trainees will get a work-based training in fields like cybersecurity, big data, quantum technology and machine learning, or digital marketing in another EU country. For students, these temporary work placements are a unique chance to develop their skills opening many exciting career options. At the same time, the initiative brings sustainable benefits to businesses attracting more students to careers in ICT-related professions. Interns will receive an allowance of around 500 euro per month, for an average of five months.
