Culture attracts more and more people, and the increase in visitors last year proves it
People are more and more interested in going to museums, to the cinema and attending cultural events. Last year, mostly due to the increase in tourists, the number of museum visitors increased. In this period, museums saw their number of visitors increase by 10% while cinemas and cultural venues’ visitors increased by 4%.
The increase in visitors also reflects in the increase in business volume. There are more people working in the cultural and creative sector and there are more companies reaching higher total volume in profits. And not just that - the number of Portuguese museums among world’s Top 100 also increased in the last year. Lisbon’s Museu Coleção Berado is placed at 65th position of the most-visited museums of the world after attracting over a million entries last year. Exports of cultural goods also increased.
