Odense to hold its largest entrepreneurship festival in November

The Danish Municipality supports the entrepreneurs of the future with its week-long event

Every year, Odense holds a “Global Entrepreneurship Week” where individuals can seek inspiration to become the entrepreneurs of the future. Although this week-long festival takes place annually, this year’s event will be the largest and most ambitious.

This November, everyone who is interested in launching a business can get inspiration and guidance from experienced entrepreneurs. The “Global Entrepreneurship Week” will feature a variety of workshops and events organised by public and private companies as well as educational institutions.  

Creating opportunities

City and Culture Councillor Christoffer Lilleholt explains the significance of this event, noting that Odense promotes the jobs of the future. With the week-long festival, the municipality supports and celebrates the efforts of entrepreneurs as it is through their work that Odense can develop and grow.

Commenting on the importance of entrepreneurship, Lilleholt stated: “It is imperative for development that the people of Odense start companies, especially with the many unemployed that Odense has.” In other words, the creation of new businesses will result in a rise in employment and economic growth. This, in turn, will improve the quality of life and increase the attractiveness of Odense.

Odin Award

In previous editions of the “Global Entrepreneurship Week”, successful entrepreneurs were awarded the Entrepreneur Odense Award and the Odin Award. This year, these have been merged for the largest edition of the festival. Now, there will only be one award (the Odin Award) which will be presented on 11 November.

Business developer Johnny Killerup from Coworking Plus discussed the merger in a press release by Odense Municipality: “With the new Odin Award, we get the opportunity to pay tribute to and celebrate the entrepreneurs who are the foundation of the business world of the future.”

The 2021 edition of Odense’s Global Entrepreneurship Week seeks to not only celebrate current business owners but also create opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs to receive guidance from and make connections with professionals.
