Prominent speakers and local officials will discuss sustainability and connected communities
The third annual conference on smart cities in Ireland will take place in just one week. The All Ireland Smart Cities Forum (AISCF) is previewed on 22nd October at Croke Park Stadium, Dublin 1. This year’s theme is Sustainable Places, Connected Communities.
The Forum was opened officially in 2016 uniting eight cities on the Island of Ireland. Facilitated by Maynooth University it was meant to promote the advancement and technology-driven development of urban services in Irish and Northern Irish cities.
In 2019 the events is expected to have a particularly practical orientation focusing on latest developments in ICT and Internet of Things (IoT) and how they can make cities and towns smarter places for citizens, while pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Forum strives to build on the Nordic-Irish Partnership on Smart Cities that was formed recently. It comprises of an exhibition, keynote address by prominent scholars in their fields, debates, parallel sessions and networking opportunities.
The one-day event gathers a mixture of prominent speakers from Europe. Among the panellists can be seen academia representatives, local authorities’ representatives, innovators, businesspersons and institutional members.
Ms. Grainia Long, Commissioner for Resilience, Belfast City Council will share key considerations on Climate Change and the Smart City, opportunities for sustainable places will be discussed among representatives of Belfast, Galway, Derry, Strabane city and county councils. Dublin and Fingal city councils will present contributions for the role of cities in public sector innovation, while DLR and Limerick Councils will show how citizens can be involved in innovation.
