Ukrainians will have access to the same healthcare services as people with health insurance
On Thursday, the University Hospital Plzeň-Lochotín set up a low-threshold outpatient clinic (UA POINT) for Ukrainian refugees arriving in Pilsen. There, those who have fled their homeland will have the opportunity to receive the same healthcare services as people with health insurance from Czech companies.
According to the director of the University Hospital MUDr. Vaclav Simanek, PhD, the UA POINT was set up under the instruction of the Ministry of Health. Welcoming refugees in need of assistance as of yesterday, the clinic offers emergency medical services for children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to this, it allows women to access gynaecologists and obstetricians.
The outpatient clinic is located at the University Hospital Plzeň-Lochotín on alej Svobody 80. To visit the UA POINT, one must enter the hospital via Entrance C and head to the Admissions Office to register. After this, they will receive a questionnaire as well as various information materials in their native language.
Once they have completed the administrative documents, they will be examined in the presence of a Ukrainian-speaking paramedic. The outpatient clinic, as well as the Ukrainian-speaking staff, will be available 24 hours a day to ensure that people can access the support they need at any time.
It is important to note that the University Hospital Plzeň-Lochotín is not the only one setting up such a clinic; that is, similar UA POINTS will be set up in various other hospitals throughout the country. Expanding on this, the Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek explained:
“It is crucial to ensure the availability of care for refugees from Ukraine. Therefore, we are setting up a system that will be functional throughout the Czech Republic and will not affect the quality and availability of healthcare for Czech citizens.”
