It’s not for the faint-hearted
It addresses middle-income residents who can’t access social housing
72 Polish households have received assistance for permanent accommodation, thanks to the joint actions of local authorities and the European Investment Bank. The EU bank and the City of Poznan together with the local affordable housing company have changed the lives of dozens of young and senior families, by enormously facilitating their quest for a flat. What is more, the housing estate of Strzeszyn Is expected to feature more than 1 100 flats in addition to the existing three thousand that the company already has on offer.
But what does the assistance consist of? Well, the so-called Affordable Housing scheme is addressed to those families or people who are in between two financial statuses, namely with incomes too high to be given social housing, but not sufficient to allow them to access estates at the free estate market. Accordingly, Poznanskie Towarzystwo Budownictwa Spolecznego (translated as Poznań Society of Civil Construction) has received a loan by the EU-bank, amounting to PLN 147 million or around EUR 34 million in order to narrow this gap. The loan is given over a long-term period with preferential low interest rate through the European Fund for Strategic Investments and is a pioneer for Poland when it comes to social or affordable housing.
Funding is also provided by the City of Poznan, the funds of the company and naturally – the future tenants. Find more on the subject from this link.
