On 27-28 April, key learnings and experiences will show how far cities have come
Seville will host a 2-day event on 27-28 April dedicated to showcasing practical examples of climate transitions and adaptations in the urban context. It will be partly streamed and will feature speakers, panels and the showcasing of six Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) projects, whose results are illustrative of the progress made in terms of the green transition.
Called “EU cities acting for just transitions and climate adaptation”, the event is organized by the City of Seville and UIA with partnership from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and Making Cities Resilient 2030.
Registration for the event is already open and available on this link.
The event will be held in the rehabilitated urban area of Cartuja Qanat in the Andalusian capital. This is no coincidence since Cartuja Qanat is also the location of an innovative urban transformation project through which the use of the street is promoted as a social catalyst. It improves the space and involves the entire ecosystem of the city (public and private agents and citizens) in this transformation.
The event will give a voice to mayors and cities on the importance of urban strategies and new solutions for well-adapted and climate-resilient cities, leaving no one behind. It will also be the opportunity to capitalise on the results and knowledge of six UIA projects that address the immediate needs and are equipping themselves with the tools to address climate change consequences through the urban fabric.
Climate change is a systemic challenge for cities and their surroundings. It affects the market economy as well as the citizens, especially the most vulnerable. It is thus an issue of urgent importance to all and one that requires collective action and sharing of bright ideas.
