Skanderborg improves connectivity in rural areas

Plustur helps citizens get where they need to be, providing them with a link to the main public transport network

The Danish municipality of Skanderborg is the second municipality in the Central Denmark Region to adopt the use of Plustur – a convenient way for people living in remote rural areas to get where they need to be.

Some locations in Denmark prove to be far too out of the way for traditional public transport networks to cover. That is why municipalities have begun adopting new measures aimed at helping citizens travel.

Plustur in essence

Plustur is a convenience tool – the perfect fit for anyone looking to get around but lacking the means to do so. It is a supplementary service to the traditional public transport network that travels between your place of residence and transport hubs in the respective region.

All you need to do is book your travel through the Rejseplanen app – available for both IOS and Android, fill in your address and destination, alongside the public transport route that you’ll be using after drop-off – then, you’re all set.

The Plustur operating and travelling hours are in sync with the local public transport network’s arrival and departure times – so if you book your Plustur ride, it will drop you off just at the right time for you to catch your bus.

The price for a ride on the Plustur is DKK 22, corresponding to a regular 2-zone bus ticket, thus making it an affordable and extremely convenient way for people to travel around the municipality of Skanderborg.

Local authorities are convinced that the newly adopted approach will be of great service to locals, reducing their travel time, minimizing the use of personal cars and thus even safeguarding the environment.

Creating a synchronized public transport network supplemented by additional services such as Plustur is certainly the way to go if you want to solve traffic and transport issues for citizens living in remote areas of your region.
