The first of several small free libraries was opened in a primary school in Razgrad, Bulgaria. The initiative is by Calvin Page, an English language teacher in Los Angeles, California, and is being co-hosted with children from the Bulgarian Hristo Botev School in Washington and students from the Razgrad School. There are 5 more libraries planned in different cities.
The idea is that everyone can leave a book and also take a book. This project aims to encourage Bulgarians to read and also to be social responsible. The initiators work with the Free World Library, a small non-profit library, which is made by people and placed where they want - at school, in a park, on the street.
