Some of the regions, however, disagree
Speed limits in some parts of Belgium will be raised to 130km/h, some regions, however, disagree with the new dicision which will come to force in 2018. Minister of Mobility François Bellot proposed the new law and made it clear that it will only be valid in some regions of the country. Other regions will determine whether to accept the changes for themselves.
The new speed limit will be valid in low-traffic sections of highways. Higher authorities have already been informed about the proposal for the new law and soon it will be brought to the attention of all regions to discuss. Therefore, they will be able to support of block the proposal.
