The 'Scrantastic Family Food Festival' is happening this weekend and everyone is welcome
According to the Chief Executive of the Sunderland City Council, Patrick Melia, food festivals are some of the most popular events organised by the local government. Citizens are always excited for culinary competitions, cook-offs and open kitchens – especially when they’re accompanied by rich cultural activities.
Due to the high levels of interest by residents, the Sunderland city council has managed to organise not one but two food festivals over the next month. The first is the 'Scrantastic Family Food Festival' happening between 17 and 19 May and the second – the Sunderland Food and Drink Festival is taking place at the end of June. Both the festivals will be attended by celebrity chefs, hosts of different wellness and cooking TV shows and other high-profile guests. The other important part of the events will be the opportunity for local producers and traders to show off their goods and crafts.
Of course, no festival is complete without a rich cultural programme. Local event organizer firms have been employed by the City Council to ensure that visitors will enjoy themselves during both the events. Cooking demonstrations, cooking lessons, food themed activities and theatre performances are just part of the fun that you’ll experience over those two weekends.
You can find more information on the events over at the Sunderland City Council website.
