The largest educational hub in Romania opened doors in Bucharest

The largest educational hub in Romania opened doors in Bucharest

This was timed to coincide with the return of students back to school

The City of Bucharest’s official website announced at the start of this week the opening of A(FI) PROEDUS HUB – an educational hub for extracurricular activities, and the largest of its kind in Romania. The facility is located on the first floor of the Cotroceni Shopping Centre and counts with 1000 square metres. The cost for its implementation came up to 1 million lei (about 205 000 euros), which came mostly from sponsorship deals and donations.

The Hub will be free to access

PROEDUS HUB promises to be free to access and has the ambition to involve all actors relevant to the educational formation of children, that is the students themselves, their parents and teachers. All of them can form an integrated holistic educational community.

High school students will have the widest option of choices in the activities programmed there. Among these there will be workshops, trainings, debates, cultural competitions, multimedia activities and scientific exhibitions, to name but a few.

Nevertheless, younger children, aged as low as 4, have not been forgotten either and activities have been planned in a way that would also stimulate them, inspire them and widen their knowledge, especially in the fields of human anatomy and chemical experiments.

Teachers will get the chance to join professional workshops and have a dedicated space to debate issues on different topics relevant to education, such as non-formal education. Additionally, they will have the chance to participate in counselling and training sessions together with interested parents.

Authorities have also stated that they will involve NGOs working in the educational sphere to hear their innovative ideas and give them a chance to apply them in this space.

The hub will be open every day of the week from 10 am till 8 pm. All activities that are organized are designed to comply with the sanitary regulations of keeping the necessary distance between people.
