The Oldest Tree in Europe is located in Greece

The Oldest Tree in Europe is located in Greece

It is over a thousand years old

The discovery is a pine tree that has survived for more than 1,000 years. A team of researchers from the Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO) discovered the tree оn a hill in the Pindos mountain, Greece. According to them the pine has survived for at least 1,075 years and holds the record for the oldest living tree on the old continent.

The discovery happened entirely accidentally, the scientists were in the area for a researching mission for trees with at least 500 rings in the trunk. As you know every year, trees add a layer of wood in the trunk, forming an additional ring.
