The transformation of Helmond into a Smart City
Tvilight is a European market leader specialized in sensors, wireless lighting controllers, and connected light management solutions for outdoor applications. Since the first pilot installation in 2013, the municipality of Helmond has rolled out the Tvilight solution at various locations throughout the city, in combination with a broad range of luminary types. The city is known as a knowledge hub and a living lab for the automotive industry, where many companies design, develop and launch innovative new transport technologies.
The intelligent lighting has been installed in areas such as public roads and pedestrian zones, , allowing for “light on demand” or dynamic light levels that reflect actual human presence and citizen needs. This makes the city safer, more environment-friendly and of course smarter. Like this the Municipality saves energy and reduces the CO2 footprint. The future plans of the City Municipality of Helmond is to add soon new applications, such as sensors that can monitor noise, traffic or weather conditions and adjust the light accordingly based on analysed data.
