Twelve beaches and sites to swim in Amsterdam

Make use of the nice weather with sunbathing and sports

The summer season has been officially launched in Amsterdam. The Dutch capital invites tourists and locals to enjoy the good weather with a nice sunbath and a swim.

The city has 6 official swimming locations with open water: Strand IJburg, Diemerpark, Sloterplas: Varkensbaai, Nieuwe Meer: West and North bank, Gaasperplas: South and North, De Hoge Dijk: Speelsloot and Strand, although they lack supervision.

Luckily, there are many supervised pools, including Flevopark bath, named by Le Monde the best swimming pool in the world, Noorderparkbad believed to be the most beautiful pool worldwide, Sportplaza Mercator sports complex, Amstelbad with a volleyball court, mini-golf course and a sand castle. In addition, there is at least one toddlers‘ pool per neighborhoud.

Find more information on the opportunities for swimming in natural water from a dedicated portal. It provides the most relevant and newest information on water quality, as well as useful advice on health risks related to swimming in different types of water.

Explore the various opportunities for yourselves through the special map created by local authorities for your convenience. It showcases the major places where you can have a nice sunbath in the Dutch capital. Find both outdoor and indoor swimming pools, paddling pools, water playgrounds, city beaches, fountains and swim jetties.
