Visit the International Sand Sculptures Festival - the largest sand sculpture exhibition in the world

The festival is built by a group of sculptors, of different nationalities, who explore different sculpting techniques in sand, producing original pieces that stand out for their magnitude, technique and aesthetics

FIESA is the largest sand sculpture exhibition ever built. Since 2003 the Sand city in Pêra, Algarve, attracts thousands of visitors annually. The festival is built by a group of sculptors, of different nationalities, who explore different sculpting techniques in sand, producing original pieces that stand out for their magnitude, technique and aesthetics. This year’s edition has started on 1st of March and can be seen until 10th of November.  An adult ticket per day costs 9.90 Euros.

For the last 15 years there are more than 700 sculptures dedicated to a different theme every year. The festival occupies an area of 15 000 square metres, showcasing the work of the skilful hands of artists from all over the world that shape over 35 000 tonnes of sand during a one-month period. At the time of the festival Sand City offers a series of events parallel to the exhibition of sand sculptures, such as sand sculpting activities and demonstrations, guided tours, workshops, video projections, and a cultural agenda with shows within the various Artistic forms.
