Another piece of good news and a step towards a cleaner Sofia
For a second consecutive year Sofia Municipality offers all residents and guests of the Bulgarian capital the opportunity to hike to Vitosha Mountain with electric bikes for rent. The municipality also informed that in 2018 ten electric bicycles were provided. At the opening of the 2019 season, the mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova said: "We are now launching another 5, which have been developed by a Bulgarian innovation company."
Electric bikes can be rented at the parking lot in front of the National Museum of History. The second location with the five new e-bikes is located in the Dianabad neighborhood on 1 Nikola Gabrovski Str. The project is an initiative of the “Green Sofia” Programme of the Municipality of Sofia and the Network for Sustainable Development "Cleantech Bulgaria" with the support of EIT Climate-KIC - the largest public-private partnership in the EU, supporting the development of green innovations.
The initiative was identified as the next step for a cleaner Sofia by the Mayor of the Bulgarian capital, Yordanka Fandakova. "This innovative project is targeting the active people of Sofia, regardless of their age", she said, and recalled that last summer the electrical bicycles were used both by students, as well as a Sofia citizen at the age of 80.
