The wasteland behind Górka Środulska, in Sosnowiec will undergo a spectacular transformation into first-class sports facility. The first investment into the future Zagłębiowski Park Sportowy worth PLN 120 million net has already begun. The facility will seat 11,600 spectators and should be ready by mid-2022.
On Wednesday, the proceedings regarding the construction of the sports hall were settled. The best bid was submitted by Bielskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Przemysłowego. The new hall will have 3052 seats for spectators (including seats for people with disabilities) and will meet the requirements of the world federations for volleyball, handball and basketball. The project previews that the main hall will be 44 meters long, 25 meters wide and 12.5 meters high. Game fields will be separated into sections for the three disciplines.

Furthermore, a space for a training hall (approx. 557 m2 - the dimensions of the pitch are adapted to play volleyball and basketball) is previewed. On top, the facility allows for the possibility of cultural or market events or exhibitions to be organised. For this purpose, the main hall, training room and promenade at level +1 can be used.
In addition to the stadium and sports hall, the Polish city will soon boast an indoor ice rink. The constructor of the last element of the Zagłębie Sports Park is yet to be decided.
