That is, if you are a resident of Porto
The municipal website of Porto decided today to remind citizens of the ongoing possibility to sign up for free skateboarding classes at the Ramalde Sports Park. Residents can still enjoy a Thursday and Monday session before the school year returns.
With the relaxation of anti-epidemic measures in June, public installations in Ramalde Sports Park were again available to the public. This coincided with the summer holidays and the skateboard ramps at the park got busy with enthusiasts who wanted to learn the agile sport.
Normally, classes are available only during the weekends but during the summer months sessions were also extended to Mondays and Thursdays. That means that for this month, there are still two weekly sessions left – on 27 and on 31 August between 17:30 and 19:30.
The last weekend classes for this month will take place on 29 and 30 August between 10:00 and 12:00 in the mornings. Naturally, the weekend classes will continue being available in September, so that they will not clash with school schedules.
What is great about these classes, provided by the municipal company Ágora - Cultura e Esporte, is that they have been designed for children and adults between the ages of 6 and 60. So if you thought that skateboarding is a child’s play, think again.
Each session has space for a maximum of 12 students, so online booking well in advance is strongly recommended. Reservations are only possible by sending an e-mail to desporto@agoraporto.pt, mentioning the name and age of the participant and the desired session.
It is also recommended to bring your own board, helmet and pads, however, if you do not own the equipment it can be provided by the teachers. Sharing of equipment between students will not be allowed.
