Christine Oppitz-Plorer

Mayor of Innsbruck is Christine Oppitz-Plorer. She was born on June 7^th 1968 in Innsbruck. In 1993 she completed her studies in economics with the diploma thesis "Reform of Family Taxation".

In 2000, Opitz-Plorer became member of the city council of Innsbruck. She was responsible for education, society, childcare and youth, family, women and adults from December 2002 to June 2009. On 8^th June 2009, the city council of Innsbruck elected her deputy mayor of the provincial capital of Innsbruck with 34 out of 40 votes. On 8 March 2010, she was elected mayor. In the local elections in 2012, which were the first direct elections in the history of Innsbruck, citizens chose Kristin Opitz-Plorer as their mayor.
