Ivo Dujmić

Mayor of Opatija is Ivo Dujmić. He was born on 23 August 1951 in Volosko. By profession he is marine transport engineer and captain of long sailing vessels. He started his professional career in Jadrolinija in 1971, and later he worked at the Rijeka branch office of the Port Authority and Kvarner Express, where he was director of the ship traffic until 1994. From 1994 to 2004, he was the leader of nautical tourism at Marea doo, and from 2004 to 2009 he was the president of the management of the maritime travel agency BWA.

Dujmić is a member of the Social Democratic Party since 1998 and is the president of the local city party organization. He speaks English and Italian fluently, and he also has passive knowledge of German. Dujmić is married and is the proud father of four sons.

Ivo Dujmić is Mayor of Opatija since 2009. In the local elections in 2017, as an independent candidate, he defeated his former counterpart in the second round with 49.95% of the votes.
