Norddjurs Municipality was created as a result of the Danish Municipal Reform on 1st January 2007. It includes the former municipalities of Grenå, Nørre Djurs and Rougsø, along with the eastern part of Sønderhald Municipality. In its extreme northeast is situated the Anholt island.  

Norddjurs is a municipality in Midtjylland Region in Denmark. Its territory covers an area of 721 km² and has a population of 37,839 (1 April 2014). it is part of Business Region Aarhus and of the East Jutland metropolitan area, which has a population of 1.378 million (2016).

Tourism, education and commerce are important sectors in the economy of Norddjurs.

One of the main focus points in the Norddjurs Kommune’s development strategy is supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises with the aim of boosting local economy in the municipality. Norddjurs has already implemented initiatives facilitating access to available public services and providing required knowledge regarding the processes for establishing businesses in the area. The municipality has a special interest in tourism-based businesses.

Grenaa Beach

The 5 km long sandy Grenaa Beach is a very attractive place for tourism, with a hinterland of summer cottages, including many rentals. The last 1.5 km are not much visited and ending at the cape of Havknude. At this place the beach turns into a stony shoreline that continues 30 km down the east coast of the peninsula of Djursland, facing the Kattegat between Denmark and Sweden.
