Minna Arve was born in 1974 in Turku. She has been mayor of the city since 2017. Arve has been a member of the National Coalition Party since 1994 in which she has served in numerous posts, including as Party Secretary from October 2014 until February 2016.
She was first elected to the Turku City Council in the 2004 elections after which she went on to act as Chairwoman of the Turku City Council between 2010 and 2014 as well as managing director of the Turku Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Arve holds a Master's degree in economics from the Turku School of Economics and places a special emphasis on making the city climate-neutral, environmentally friendly and socially just.
