First Croatian plastic-free vending machine offering natural products becomes hit in Rijeka

It is easy to use and requires citizens to bring their own packaging

The biggest Croatian port - Rijeka continues to make conscientious effort to keeping its sea clean. The most recent piece of good news in the actions promoting the circular economy and waste reduction is the introduction of plastic-free vending machine in the city which offers a range of natural products. As Rijeka Municipality announced for TheMayor.EU, the ecological vending machine is named Bert and is expected to become a true hit among the citizens and visitors of Rijeka.

Bert offers natural, eco-friendly and high-quality Croatian products at particularly attractive prices. Moreover, the vending machine is easy to use and requires citizens to bring their own packaging. Customers can choose between various natural products such as extra-virgin olive oil, pumpkin seed oil, apple cider vinegar, wine vinegar, white vinegar, bio-detergent for laundry and for dishes, biological multi-purpose cleaning agent and biological lavender shampoo.

The objective of this innovation is to provide an alternative way of consumption and to encourage citizens to approach their consumption habits more responsibly. Ultimately, it aims to contribute to reducing the production of new plastic.

So far, BERT turns out to be very popular, proving that there is a solid ground for alternative and responsible consumption and for the reduction of plastic pollution.
