Michaël Delafosse is the 62nd Mayor of Montpellier and the President of Montpellier Méditerranée Metropolis. He was elected to the mayor's post by the municipal council of Montpellier on 4 July 2020, after his list Montpellier Unie (United Montpellier) won the second round of the French municipal elections.
Delafosse holds degrees in history and geography, and a certificate from the Cycle of Graduate Studies for Economic Development (CHEDE) program. He has experience as a deputy to the mayor of Montpellier in charge of culture and town planning.
Delafosse was born in 1977. He is a teacher of history and geography at Collège Fontcarrade in Montpellier. He is married, father of two sons.
