Louis Aliot was elected Mayor of Perpignan following the second round of the municipal elections in France in June 2020.
Aliot moved to Perpignan in 2009. A Doctor of Law, and a long-time lecturer in public law at the University of Toulouse, he set up his law office in Perpignan in 2010.
He was elected regional councillor for the Languedoc-Roussillon region in 2010. He was elected Member of the European Parliament in 2014, and Member of the National Assembly for Pyrénées-Orientales in 2017 where he became a member of the Defense and Armed Forces Commission.
Aliot has also been the Vice President of the National Rally (formerly National Front) since 16 January 2011 and a member of the FN Executive Office.
