Mayor of Kozani is Lazaros Maloutas. He was born in 1956 in Kozani. He has two daughters.
Maloutas is a qualified chemical engineer who studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and serves in the Department of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Region of Western Macedonia.
During his studies he was president of the student association of the Prefecture of Kozani (1977-1978). During the period 1987-1993 he was an elected member of the delegation of the TEE (Technical Chamber of Greece) of Western Macedonia.
From 1994 to 1998 he served as Chairman of the Board of the Municipal Library. In the period 1997-98 he is a Deputy Mayor for Environment and Cleanliness. In 2000 he become Deputy Mayor in charge of urban planning.
From 2001 to 2008 Maloutas served as Deputy Mayor for Technical Works. After that and until February 2010 he filled the position of Deputy Mayor of Urban Planning. In the 2010 elections, the citizens voted him to be the first mayor of the new Kallikratic Municipality of Kozani. He was Mayor of Kozani until 31 August 2014.
Maloutas has been elected to the board of directors of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) since 2011 and represents it in the Hellenic Recycling Utilization Company. He is Vice President of the KEDE Committee for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Spatial Planning
For a number of years, Maloutas has also been involved in a number of initiatives and activities of Kozani Municipality. In 2019 he was re-elected Mayor of Kozani.
