Mayor of Thessaloniki is Konstantinos Zervas. He was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued studies in the USA. Zervas has worked in the private sector since 1990.
From 1994 to 1997 Zervas was a member of the Board of Directors of PAOK and in 2010-2016 member of the Board of Directors of Attiko Metro SA. From August 2011 to December 2014, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Thessaloniki State Orchestra.
In 2011 Zervas was sworn as a City Councilor and Deputy Mayor for the Environment, Quality of Life and Free Space. In 2014 he was re-elected in the Municipality of Thessaloniki and took over the Citizen's Mobility, Youth and Sports Deputy Municipality. In 2015, Zervas resigned from the position of Vice Mayor, having disagreed on important policy issues with the Mayor. In 2017 Zervas left the “Initiative for Thessaloniki” and become an Independent City Councilor in the Municipality of Thessaloniki. In October 2018 he officially announced his candidacy as Mayor of Thessaloniki Municipality. In June 2019 Zervas was elected the 61st Mayor of Thessaloniki.
