Mick Finn

Mick Finn was first elected to Cork City Council in 2009. Independent Councillor Mick Finn has been elected in June 2018 the new Lord Mayor of Cork city. Mr. Finn is the first independent lord mayor in 70 years since 1948. A journalist by profession he worked in the newspaper and publishing sector in Cork for a number of years before moving to Australia as a deputy. He holds a Bachelor's in Arts (History & English) and Master’s in Science (Government & Public Policy). He also has a diploma in Journalism from the Dublin Institute of Technology

His focus as a Mayor of Cork city will be on the upcoming influx of office and housing developments, as well as the first extension of the city boundaries in 50 years.

The new Lord Mayor encourages city management and central government to ensure that Cork has the infrastructure in roads and housing - described as the city's most pressing need - to handle the growth. He calls for the integrity of the city's core to be maintained.
