Nial Ring

Cllr Nial Ring was elected Lord Mayor of Dublin on Monday, 25th June 2018. He is the first citizen of Dublin and is the 349th Lord Mayor of the city.

He serves on a number of committees including the Central Area Committee and Joint Policing Committee, Finance Strategic Policy Committee, Audit Committee, the Moore Street Advisory Committee, Parnell Square Special Committee, Special Committee on Fire/Ambulance Services & Emergency Management, Commemorative Naming Committee and represents Dublin City Council on the Grangegorman Development Consultative Group.

A fourth generation Dubliner, he was born and reared in Ballybough, in Dublin’s North Inner City. He graduated from Dublin City University with an Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance. He has held a number of senior banking positions in Ireland and abroad. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, a Licentiate of the Institute of Bankers and he holds a Diploma in Financial Services Law from University College Dublin.

He is married to Joyce and he has four grown up sons. His interests include Irish History, politics and sports.
