It is called Marco, after the European village whose halves it connects
The Mayor of Jelgava is Andris Rāviņš. He was born in 1955. In 1980, he graduated from the Latvian Academy of Agriculture (now – Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technology) with a degree in Mechanization. He has been Mayor of Jelgava city council since 2001. At the moment he is also the president of Latvian Large Cities Association, Deputy to chairman of The Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments and Member of Latvia to the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).
