The Mayor of Siggiewi is Kurstein Nicholas Sant. He was elected on 25 May 2019.
Kurstein was born in 1984 and grew up in Siġġiewi where he still lives to this day with his family. He is married with two children.
Kurstein studied at De La Salle College and later continued his education at the University of Malta where he graduated as a doctor in 2007. He continued his studies while working first at St. Luke's Hospital and later at Mater Dei Hospital where he furthered his training in surgery.
As part of his professional development, he worked and studied at Oxford, England where he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh while studying to the level of Masters in Medicine in exercise and sports with the University of Bath. He is also an assistant lecturer in surgery at the University of Malta.
As a student, he was involved in a number of associations, including university, cultural and religious ones. As a doctor, he offered his services to various sports associations including Siġġiewi FC, St. Andrews FC, Malta Powerboat Association, Malta Football Association and the National School of Sport, where he was the school’s first sports doctor.
He currently serves as the doctor of the Siġġiewi Football Club and Siġġiewi Basketball Club and also acts as the latter's President.
