Jacek Jaskowiak was born on March 10, 1964 in Poznań. He is a social activist, sports activist, former entrepreneur. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, with postgraduate studies in accounting, finance and taxes. He is a scholarship holder at the University of Bielefeld in Germany.
He gained professional experience in the 90s of the last century in commercial companies. From 1997 to 2014, he ran his own business consisting in accounting and advisory services for foreign entrepreneurs.
Iin 2010, he became the candidate of the city movement My-Poznaniacy for the office of the president (Mayor) of Poznań. Since 2013, he has been a member of the Civic Platform of the Republic of Poland, he was the candidate for the office of the President of Poznań in 2014. In the second round of elections, he obtained 86,164 votes of support (59.09%) and replaced Ryszard Grobelny as the president of the City of Poznań, who had been in office for 16 years.
He is an active athlete. He has run over 50 marathons on cross-country skis. For several years, he has been supporting blind cyclists from the "Razem" club in Poznań. He loves to spend his time on a bicycle and also commutes to work.
He is married with two sons. Fluent in German.
