Berta Ferreira Milheiro Nunes was born on October 25, 1955 in Santa Maria de Lamas, municipality of Feira, district of Aveiro. Later she graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of Porto, where she was again distinguished with several awards for best student at national level.
Since College, she has always participated in associative, civic and political movements, always aiming to work for the common good. She has lived in Alfândega da Fé since 1985, when she joined the Local Health Center as a GP.
She was President of the Municipal Assembly of Alfândega da Fé from the Socialist Party between 1989 and 2001 and councilor of the Municipality of Alfândega da Fé between 2005 and 2009.
She was appointed coordinator of the Health Sub - Region of Bragança in 2005 until 2009, and in March 2009 she was appointed Executive Director of ACES Nordeste (Grouping of Health Centers in the Northeast, which included all health centers in the district of Bragança and Foz Côa ).
She has been Mayor of Alfândega da Fé since October 2009 for her third term.
