The Mayor of Batalha is Paulo Batista Santos. He was born in 1968, in Batalha. He is married with two children.

Santos was a consultant at IEFP – Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional, Administrator of the municipal company ISERBATALHA, and Secretary of the General Assembly of Sociedade Leiria Polis.
He was also a member of the Portuguese parliament in the IX, X, XI and XII legislatures, and Deputy Secretary of the Bureau of the Assembly of the Republic and Vice-President of the Parliamentary Commissions of Agriculture and Sea and of the Committee on Budget, Finance and Public Administration.
Currently he is the mayor of Batalha, elected in 2013, Vice-President of the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Leiria and an effective member of the National Council of the Associação Nacional de Municípios Portugueses.
Furthermore, he is a member of the Portuguese representation in the European Committee of the Regions and chairman of the ENERDURA – Agência Regional de Energia da Alta Estremadura.
