Jorge Almeida
Mayor of Águeda is Jorge Henrique Fernandes Almeida.He completed his degree in Nursing at the Escola Superior de Enfermagem Bissaya Barreto in 1988. Subsequently he took the Course of Higher Studies Specialized in Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatry (1995-1997).
In 1998 Almeida started working as a nurse in the Emergency Department of the Hospital de Águeda and worked in the Family Health Units of Macinhata do Vouga and Préstimo.
From November 2005 to October 2017 Almeida was a councillor at the Águeda City Council as a Vice-President. In October 2017 he was elected mayor of Águeda.
