Raul Castro

Raul Castro was born in Abrantes on 19 October 1948. During his academic career he attended the Economics course of the University of Coimbra and graduated in Political Science in the State Science variant by the International University. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Public Policy and a Master's degree in Administration and Public Policy from ISCTE. He founded the National Scouts Corp in Alcobaça and The Sports, Cultural and Recreational Association of the District of the Angels in Leiria.

Mr. Raul Castro was on the board of the directors at the Batalha Volunteer Firefighters Humanitarian Association, the Leiria Sports Union, the Leiria Sports Center, the Leiria Basketball Club and the National School. He developed his career in the General Directorate of Taxes, being the director of the 2nd Finance Directorate of Lisbon, and in the local administration, as president of the Municipality of Batalha, councilor of the Municipality of Leiria and currently as mayor of the same since 2009.
